Silvio back from Vegas..

August 30th, 2010

Hi everyone!

I have returned from LasVegas, from Dextor tournament at Hard Rock Café, a tournament that offered me a lot of emotions. I was playing all day long at the table that was shown on TV. However the destiny played a bad joke upon me, when during a decisive hand the goddess of Fortune turned against me decisively.

A super-aggressive player (not to call him mad) calls out of position, and I raise 3X the BB, in dealer position, with AK suited (clubs), all fold, and he calls, after having thought for a while. The flop shows Q-9-3, I am in…He checks and I bet, he thinks again and then calls. Turn shows a 6 and 2 clubs on the table. He checks again, in this position I calculate my odds and then I bet the value of the pot, he thinks for a while and calls in a mad call, and with cards on the table he shows Q-10 non suited. Given that the table is shown on TV and the pot is important, 2 long minutes pass till the River is shown… and in the meantime the goddess of Fortune went off for a coffee…the River shows a 10!!! I remain short stacked, and I go out a bit after, with K-K against 5-6 suited. It was definitely a well played tournament, but unfortunate… See you next time!

prossima!

Not that good a morning

August 21st, 2010

Our reporting team - which escaped the temptations of Grand Casino before the end of first day yesterday - woke up today to find a text message from Vili telling that he was knocked out of the tournament late yesterday showing his less than 20BB stack with ATs against an early position opener´s AK. No ten or a straight to provide the much needed suckout.

So Finnish Championship of Poker has ended on Team Redkings´ part but we will return shortly in EPT Vilamoura and other events coming up. Hopefully we will see both Daniel and Vili back in action soon too.

…and Toni is out

August 20th, 2010

AJ vs. AQ - can´t blame him for putting in the approx 10 big blinds.

After a good start Toni´s tournament was quite rough. No matter how good a .at some point one needs some cards too.

He will be back in action in EPT Vilamoura, and hopefully gets some help from the deck and we´ll see another deep run from our Finnish star.

Toni struggling, Vili chillin´

Comments from our boys on the break:

“Not looking good, 11k” -Toni

“28k, nothing special”- Vili

Next level 400/800

Dinner break: Toni 20k - Vili 28k and a sandwich

August 20th, 2010

The tournament will now be on a break for approximately an hour.

Vili started opening up during the last hour or so and now has 28k in chips and a good touch on his table. He is now enjoying a well deserved sandwich for dinner, but should be hungry for more chips in 45 minutes again.

Toni was rather card dead during the last levels and has slide back to 20k, but everyone in the table knows he is still a threat. At the moment we don´t what Toni is having for dinner but we will keep you posted if we hear any news.

Player out

August 20th, 2010

“An aggressive player raised me again and I couldn´t let go of my tens” described very calm Daniel how his tournament came to an end. This time his aggressive opponent held AA and no tens came on the board to give Daniel an another life.

Next time!

J5 good - all good

August 20th, 2010

Vili just doubled up in a three bet pot where he turned two pairs with J5 and his opponent put his stack in with what turned out to be just a gutshot straight draw. Vili now has 25k which is a bit above averege.

Toni hasn´t been swinging much after the break and has 30kish, Daniel up to around 15k so all is well in the Camp RedKings!

First break - Toni steamrollin´

August 20th, 2010

The first break has just ended and the third level (100-200-25) is about to begin in few seconds.

Team RedKings stacks:

Toni 30k

Daniel 9k

Vili 13k

Toni and Daniel are seated next to each other, but the increase in Toni´s stack did not come on Daniel´s expense.

Vili takin´it easy

August 20th, 2010

We have reached the second level and one player has left the room. Fortunately all our team players are still in the game.

Vili Ronkainen has 16,000 chips left of his 20k starting stack and hasn´t 6-bet bluffed anyone yet.

Finnish Open Championship of Hold´Em 2100€ Main Event

August 20th, 2010

Greetings to all blog-readers!

Team RedKings is now in Helsinki, where the Finnish Open Championship of Poker has justed kicked off.

Currently there is 80 players in the tournament but the late registration is still open so we are expecting a prize pool of over 200,000€.

We have three players in the event, Toni Ojala, who should not need to be introduced to our regular readers, is looking to shine his 13th place from EPT Tallinn laste week and two satellite winners Daniel Boije (right) and Vili Ronkainen (left).

Daniel, although describing himself as a casual player has some impressive merits in the Live Scene such as 2010 Helsinki Freezeout PLO/NLH 1st place and Vili is a professional Midstakes player, so we should have a good chance of a RedKings player taking down a tournament in Helsinki again.
