EPT Prague, a “small” win..

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I arrived to Prague a couple of hours after Ramzi. He had already checked into the hotel where we were supposed to stay and the hotel were the EPT was supposed to be hosted at. It was the same beautiful Hilton hotel as last year. Normally I really think the Hilton hotels are overpriced and overrated but this one is really nice. The big open lobby is amazing and at Christmastime it gets even better with a gigantic Christmas tree and other kind of decoration.

The main event wasn’t very fun for me. I started out playing pretty safe at a good table, just grinding it out. After a couple of levels I got moved to a tougher table but with a couple of really bad players. I saw about 4 pots between a good Frenchmen and a crazy older guy from Prague or something. The older guy made huge mistakes at almost every street in the four pots I saw so I was hoping to catch him as soon as possible.

The first pot I got active in was when a pretty fishy guy limps in for 300 chips from the cutoff. I complete in the small blind with 42s and the crazy old guy checks in the big blind. The flop came A53 with a flushdraw, Jackpot! There were 900 in the pot plus eight antes of 25 each. I bet out for 600 chips, the crazy old guy calls and the limper raises to 2000 chips. I decided that I couldn’t give freecards to both of them since the crazy guy in big blind probably would call if I only called. With that in mind I pushed for almost 10k chips where the crazy old guy mutters something like “I don’t want to call, but I can’t slowplay anymore” then he called and the limper folded.

I think I never got so surprised when the old crazy guy turned up his cards. I thought he had A3, A5, 55m 33 or maybe worse… but no, he turns up AA? The turncard is a 5 and my nutstraight is now totally dead.

After the tournament I convinced Ramzi to stay in Prague instead of taking an early flight home to Stockholm. Prague is a fun city and I was in the mood for a fun night out. Actually we went out a big Swedish gang a couple of nights. Ramzi and I also played some sideevents, a 500euro tournament with one rebuy and a 2000euro freezeout.

In the 2k euro sideevent both Ramzi and I were deep into the 2nd day. I think we both were very convinced that someone in a RedKings-shirt were going to win when we made the finaltable ;)

Of course Ramzi was the man with the most luck so he scooped the event when I had to be happy with a 4th place. Ramzi got about 100k euro and I got about 30k. The trip was a successful one in every way. We won some money, got the RedKings logo out there and had a couple of fun nights out. I really hope we find the rush now!

My next big tournament is EPT Deauville in about two weeks. Until then, Good luck at the tables!

Big Win in €2200 Side event! Congratulations Ramzi and Molle!

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I said in my earlier post that EPT Prague has not been a big sucess for Team RedKings, that is now a big lie. When the Main Event was over so quick for the team, they all wanted to play some side events, and what a sucess!

In the €2200 euro side event, the day started with that we had two RedKings players in the top 5 by 18 players. Ramzi Jelassi and Jonas “Molle” Molander where the guys who should keep up Team RedKings pride here in Prague, and did they? YES! More than you ever could imagine.

It started out with that both of them had an easy way to the finaltable, no big problems to get into the top 9,

Ramzi Won 129 000€! Molle got away with 30 000€!

Ramzi Won 129 000€! Molle got away with 30 000€!

and now they were both going for the win. Player after player left the table, but we wtill had our RedKings Swedes at the table when we were down to FOUR players!

The structure was very fast in the end and when Molle went out as the 4th place finisher he still was happy and ruding for his team colleague Ramzi who were the chipleader. They got out another player pretty fast and we got to a Heads Up between an unknown Norwegian guy and the superstar Ramzi Jelassi. I am now going to tell you about a call that even would make Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey stupid.

The norweigan guy was very aggresive and raised most of the pots. One pot Ramzi decides to call and the flop comes out 9 - 7 - 2 all in different colors. The norweigan guys puts all his chips in the pot, Ramzi thinks a little and says “call” and flips up A-10 for ACE high! And the norweigan guy just wants to hide his face when he shows J-3 for nothing! No help on the turn or River and we got our RedKing to be a real King! His comment just after winning the tournament is:
“Everything I know, I have learned at RedKings!”

Ramzi went away happy with €129 000 euro, by beating 200 players who paid €2200 to play. Molle was also happy since he got €30 000 for playing this 2 day tournament.

Congratulations to Ramzi Jelassi and Jonas “Molle” Molander! You really are RedKings!

Toni Ojala, out.

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

When RedKings started to get lucky, I thought they would go on that wave for a long time. But Toni had to move all in with 10-J, but when the Big Blind had A-Qs there was not much to do. No help on the flop, turn and not even on the river.

To be honest I don’t really have any words for how this day went for the Team RedKings. No big success is my last oppinion.

The next stop will be in Helsinki for some of the Team, you will be able to Qualify for this tournament online at RedKings.com. The live event qualifier will be on the 11th of January and the Helsinki Freezeout starts at the 14th of January.

Until then, Good Luck Online and have a great Christmas and New years eve!

Best Regards,
Jerry and the whole Team RedKings!

That’s Poker?…YES!

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Finally! This is the absolutely first time a Team RedKings player gets a bit lucky. Toni kept his word with moving all in every hand, he did it with Q9.. Got a caller, with KK. Toni loves women, and they love him because the Q9 was pretty good when the flop showed 8-10-J. This nut straight did hold up all the way and now we see Toni up on 7,500 in Chips and he will probably find some more queens to get him up to a even bigger stack.

“I am the best of the RedKings players, so the only logic thing is that I win” he says while he showels the chips his way.

More All-ins to come..

“I will push all-in every hand”

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

After a chat with Toni in the 15 minuters break, I understand that we will have some big action the coming hour. His statement of pushing all in every hand is maybe not 100% true, but he will as soon he’s got an OK hand. We now have 138 player left from day 1B, and of those players we have Toni Ojala carrying the RedKings flag as good as he can.

So, stay tuned and you will get more info about Tonis crazy all-in play that is coming up. He has now got 4000 in chips which is 10 Big Blinds on the 200/400 level.

I can only wish him good luck and some good cards! We know Toni has got up from this kind of trouble before :)

That’s Poker?…NO!

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Why is Poker a game and not a lottery? We have another RedKings player who goes out after having a big percentage of winning after getting all the chips in the middle of the pot.

This time it is the other Swede, Jonas “Molle” Molander who got unlucky. He flops the nuts (The best possible hand that a player can have combined with the board). He gets all the chips in with his flopped straight, and gets a caller of a guy that has hit his set and  of course the board gets paired on the absolutely last card, the river.. A big pot that should have gone RedKings way, but instead we will find Molle in the bar all night talking about his bad beat to anyone that listens..

Now, go Finland, go Toni and GO TEAM REDKINGS!

Toni is like a roller coaster..

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Toni has been playing really good poker today, he just got unlucky with having the Kings when the opponent had the Aces. At that time he was down to 2,5k. From that he has been going really strong and he got up to 14k without showing ONE hand! That means skill.

He had this 14k, before he lost a big pot against his fellow finnish friend, on a 9 - J - K flop, Toni calls his opponents bet, but he decides to not call on the turn where he folds and shows a K at the same time as he says something like “satans perkelä” in Finnish.

He is now down to about 5,5k.. BUT toni is always a fighter and he is going to do all finnish tricks that is in

A RedKing - Molle

A RedKing - Molle

the book to get up his chips again.

Molle has changed table, which he didn’t really like, some more famous faces, like the Swedish grandfather Christer Johansson. He’s got about 11,000 in chips. But when he starts to play we all know that it could go fast up.

Better than the World Champion!

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Two of the player is now inofficially better than the Danish WSOP Champion Peter Eastgate because he just

Peter Eastgate, winner of WSOP - Out

Peter Eastgate, winner of WSOP - Out

went out of the tournament. With this in their back they feel that nothing can stop them, and now they both are going for the first price of 774,000€.

There will be 56 players ending up with getting some money out of playing this 4 day tournament.

Chip Counts:
Jonas “Molle” Molander 11,000
Toni Ojala 8,000

Game goes on..

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

So does Toni and Molle, Toni has taken his 2,5k stack and built it up to a small tower that has a value of 7500.

The Finnish Champion - Toni Ojala

The Finnish Champion - Toni Ojala

Just by playing his game, and I asked him if he felt confident for the rest of the tournament, as the confident finn he is the answer was an easy “Yes”. He also says that his table is a pretty good table without any really well known player, so to see a Toni Ojala in the chiplead at the end of the day is more possible than impossible.

Molle was up on 15-16k, but have lost some smaller pots now and is back on the start stack of 10 000 chips. The blinds are 100/200 and we will soon go into a break.

Two Kings already out..

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The start for the Team has been a bit shaky…

Csaba Toth - out

It started out with that our hungarian pro Csaba Toth starts to eat a fish, it ended up with that the fish got lucky and Csaba out of the tournament.

Little bit more detailed on what happened:
Csaba gets dealt AK, one player raises, the “fish” calls and Csaba makes a re-raise, he only gets called by the fish. Flop is K-crap-crap, after some betting it goes to showdown where Csaba is in a big lead with his AK against the opponents KJ. Csaba feels relieved, until the turn who shows a J, only a Ace can save him now, but another J shows on the river and Csaba goes tilted away to the Cash Games tables..

Ramzi Jelassi - out

Ramzi Jelassi - out

This is not enough, Ramzi Jelassi also got killed with the same hand AK. He gets all the chips in against QQ, and gets a flip for a big stack. No help on the board and another RedKings player goes out..

So, 2 players left, Toni Ojala and Jonas “Molle” Molander.. Toni started with building a big stack up to 15k, this doesn’t help when you get dealt two Kings and gets all the chips in the middle against AA, down to 2.5k.

Molle is just watching his table and not making any big moves, and has a stack of 8.000..

Go Toni, Go Molle, GO RedKings!
