Good News and Bad News..

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Toni Ojala has just made it to the money, again! Third time this WSOP. The bubble ended after just one hand, and Toni was not involved in it. He is now guaranteed about $2700, but he is looking for much more.

That was the good news, now to the bad. Ramzi Jelassi joins Christian Heich to the pool, as he is also out afetr abou 3 hours of poker. I only know right now that Ramzi was drawing to a hand but couldn’t hit it. This was just a Warm-up for Ramzi for the Main Event, we will see more of him there!

Only Stephan and Toni left to cheer for, and believe that is enough!

Big pot against table chip leader..

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I came to the table when the table was A647K, and Toni was in the pot against the table chip leader. The chip leader bet out 11.000, and Toni went in to the tank for a while and decided at last to make the call. His opponent showed AK, for top two pair, and Toni mucked.

In the RedKings hidden camera (Toni told me) we get to know that Toni had AQ and that he put his opponent on either AK or a bluff. This time he made the wrong decision, and was not happy with it. He still has 38k and the average is 41k and only 3 players more to go for the money!

In the $5.000 shorthanded the stacks look like this:
Ramzi Jelassi - 17.000
Stephan Kjerstad - 15.000

924 players is in it right now, and it is all the top poker players in the world, after just a short look over the tables I find Daniel Negrenau, Devilfish, Vanessa Rousso, Michael Tureniec and Juha Helppi..

Heich makes an early exit..

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Christian Heich started odd really good and was up to 20.000, and had a few flips to get a even bigger stack. He had about 15k in his stack when he had 10J of spades, on the flop 689 with two spades. Christian raised, got re-raised and then he moved all-in. His opponent moved in to the tank for almost five minutes and then announces call with 78 off suit. Heich has abou 70/30 to win this pot of abou 30.000. The turn is blank and so is the river and Christian leaves back to the pool with the other germans. This tournament really fit Christian perfect, but he has been on a bad run his whole stay here in Vegas, but hopefully we will see him soon again in the Main Event!

Toni is really closing up to the money, 297 gets paid and we have 315 players left. Toni has a stack of 51.000 and the average is 40.000 so it does look very good!

Harri takes a bad beat..

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Harri was down to about 16.000, when he got A10 suited on the SB, the button made it 3000 and Harri went all-in. The button called with KQ off suit. The flop came out AXX with three diamonds and everything looked good with top pair but his opponent had K of diamonds and only needed a diamond to take Harri out. The turn is black, but the river shows another diamond and Harri leaves his seat.

Harri will now go straight to the bar and try to forget that diamond and maybe find some hearts! Good Luck with that.

The 5.000 shorthanded just got joined by another Team RedKings player, after a late Las Vegas night yesterday he arrived 2 hours late. Now he is there and will start with the full starting stack of 15.000.

Ramzi Jelassi is around 13.000 and is happy with his table. Christian Heich has got his stack up to 17.000.

Toni Ojala who might become the star of the night is still on a steady stack of 54.000.

This is exciting! Don’t you think?

Christian Heich - Back in action

Christian Heich - Back in action

Ramzi is making his first appearance in this edition of WSOP 2009, he is very excited about it and had a good feeling about the tournament. Now he is sitting down with more than 800 players in the $5000 shorthanded event.

Here we can also find the aggressive German, Christian Heich who has played a couple of smaller events but this is the highlight for him this year, it fits him very good to play shorthanded with his style of poker.

In just an hour from now also Toni Ojala and Harri Strömberg gets back in to Rio to play in Day 2 in event 54 (NLHE $1500), only around 380 players left and here are their tables:
(Table 194)

RedKings through to day 2..

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Out of the three Team RedKings players that started in event 54, two went through to the second day, then have in mind that only 380 out of the total 2.816 got a seat ticket for day 2.

They didn’t only go through they both did it with stacks around average and above average, Toni Ojala with 54.700 and Harri Strömberg with 29.400! It is not far away from the money, as 297 players gets paid.

So, tomorrow is going to be another action filled day with the $5.000 shorthanded tournament starting with Christian Heich and Ramzi Jelassi entering the WSOP!

Another cash coming up for Team RedKings tomorrow? DON’T JINX IT!

Bullets for Toni!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I got to Tonis table when the board was A24, and Toni bet out 3000, he got re-raised to 10.000, and Toni moved all-in. His opponent called him and Toni flipped over his aces against the opponents A5, no threes and Toni would double up. Turn is a 5. River is a Queen and Toni doubles up to 55.000.

The hand after Toni raises again and everybody folds, Toni again shows AA! Maybe it works to complain on not getting any cards?

Harri still has about 35.000 and the average is 30.630 with 414 players to go…

One level left on day 1..

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Which means just another hour of poker until we can have two RedKings players advancing to day 2.

Right now Harri Strömberg has the lead of them two with 35.000, but just behind we find Toni with 27.000.

Only 432 players left now of the 2.818 players starting!

Toni and Harri runs over the field..

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Harri Strömberg - 33.000

Harri Strömberg - 33.000

As Tonis best today he has been up to the frightening heights of 53.000 when the average was about 15.000, he has really been killing the field not letting a single pot out of his hands. Now he has lost two semi-big pots and is “down” to 38.000.

Harri Strömberg is closing in on Toni by playing impressively good in his first big tournament, amazing. He hasn’t made many mistakes today and that takes him up to about 33.000.

Sylvain Lanternier who had to play shortstacked poker all day long now also had to leave the field. Anyway, we will soon see more from Sylvain who is already looking forward to the EPT tour!

We have 2 more levels of poker left for today and only 620 of the 2800 starting players remains.
