Molle does it again!

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Maybe some of you remember EPT Prague? Team RedKings didn’t have any luck in the main event, and nobody was happy until…..The side event!

Then we had both Ramzi Jelassi and Jonas “Molle” Molander on the final table, and the winner was Ramzi Jelassi who took home €130.000! A little bit behind him we found Molle who finished fourth and got €29.000.

Now in EPT Dortmund by Pokerstars.com we didn’t have any luck in the main event but we had three players playing in the €2000 side event, Molle, Toni and Ramzi. Toni and Ramzi didn’t manage to get through to the second day, but Molle did. He was a bit shortstacked with 21.000 and an average stack of about 30.000. 81 of the 200 starting players followed Molle to the second day.

Molle wins €35.000!

Molle wins €35.000!

The second day started off great for Molle and in the dinner break after 3 hours of day 2, he was in a pretty big chip lead with 320.000 in chips. He continued playing stable but just before the final table he lost a few very important flips, but he still went in to the final table with one of the biggest stacks on the table. Players went out, and when there only was 4 players left Molle got dealt an ace together with a queen, which is a premium hand with only four players left in the tournament. He moved all-in and was up against AJ, he was far ahead his opponent, just needed to dodge the jacks. In the end it stood clear that the board was containing a Jack and no queens and Molle had to leave the tournament again in 4th position. He got €35.000 for this position, but what a record, two side events of €2000 and two 4th positions! If that doesn’t show that you are one of the best poker players in the world, what does?

Congratulations to Molle, and also to Team RedKings who now made a really good win also in EPT Dortmund!

Only a month left until EPT San Remo, see you then!

Thomas Erichsen, one experience richer..

Thomas Erichsen - 73th..

Thomas Erichsen - 73th..

Thomas lost half of his stack a few hands earlier and had about 25.000 left, he got dealt 44 and had to make a move, and with the high blinds his only option was to go all-in. So he did, and unfortunately he gets one caller who shows 66. Thomas is now in a very bad position, and it is his tournament life that is on the line. No help on the flop, please give us a four on the turn, no four. River, 8 of spades.

Thomas finished on a VERY impressive position for being his first really big tournament, 73 out of 660, only 9 places from the money. I had a beer with him in the bar, and as I understood it he was very happy with his performance, but of course he was unhappy with not getting to the money when he was so close. But he only paid $3 for this great experience, and he will try to qualify again! He was very happy with being a part of Team RedKings for a week, and also says that he recommends everybody that wants to play a live tournament, should do their first one by qualifying through RedKings.com. Sounds a bit like RedKings propaganda, but that is actually what he said :)

So, EPT Dortmund by pokerstars.com is over for RedKings for this time, but we are already planning for our next trip to EPT San Remo.

Thanks to all who followed the blog and good luck at the tables!
Best Regards,
Your blogger.

76 players left, 12 to the money..

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

And Thomas Erichsen is still in the tournament and fighting to get to the top 64, as most of the players right now. The play has tighten up a bit, and the ones who already have a big stack just get bigger and bigger.

Thomas is “down” to 50.000 in chips, and has a really good chance to reach the money. As there is nothing to report about since the game is so tight, I am going to sum up the tournament so far. We had 11 starting players, 3 of them went through to the second day. We had some very bad luck on the way, and if poker was fair we would have had many more of the players still in the tournament, but that’s poker as they say. I have talked to many of the players and it looks like they are not happy with how the EPT has been handled here in Dortmund this year, and I think that EPT will have this in mind when they choose their destinations for next year.

Now back to the tournament, Go Thomas Erichsen!

Double up time..

Thomas Erichsen - The best of them all

Thomas Erichsen - The best of them all

Just a few minutes after the break was over Thomas was dealt 33, there was a raise pre-flop and Thomas decided to call. The flop came amazingly K83, which means a set for Thomas. Thomas checked, opponent raised, and Thomas went all-in, and got called by AK. The turn was the worrying card K, which gave the other player a few outs, but the river was blank and Thomas now got almost 80.000!!

In the dinner break he said:
- I have already reached my goal of being the best RedKings player

Maybe it is time to put new goals for this tournament…

Looks like his $3 has a big chance of becoming thousands of euros, now it is 94 players left and 30 more players should go out and Thomas has earned at least €6.600!

Other famous players chip counts:
William Thorsson, 150.000
Michael McDonald, 158.400
Moritz Kranich (Winner of EPT Deauville) 98.000
Joao Barboza, 58.000

Time for food..

He’s got about 28.500 in his stack, and he has started to complain a little about how bad cards he gets, so I hope this soon will change for him so he can boost his stack up a little.

Thomas Erichsen - Got his seat for $3!

Thomas Erichsen - Got his seat for $3!

Thomas raised 3xBB in early position and the Swedish Star Oscar Silow who only had 11.000 left pushed his whole stack. Thomas called with AJ, and Silow showed 88, the flop comes out 810Q, three of a kind for the swede, but a 9 or A would give Thomas Erichsen a straight. The turn comes out a 9 and Thomas hits his straight, just to laugh a little bit more in Oscar Silows face he hits the ace on the river as well. Which means he got what I call a 7 straight, 7 cards in a row. Maybe something we could add to the poker terminology? Any other fun words you readers are sitting on out there in your houses?

120 players left, average stack about 55.000.

Thomas Erichsen, 42.000

Only an hour left until “Thursdays with Toni” starts, read more about in my earlier post! Also only one hour left until the $250 freeroll will begin. Name: blogs.redkings.com FR, password: monaco

Good luck!

RedKings doesn’t help Ivo…

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Ivo Donev - In the front

Ivo Donev - In the front

Ivo was in the small blind when a player raised 3xBB. Ivo shouts out:
-All-in!
He puts his 10.000 chips into the middle, and his opponent calls. Ivo turns over the magic Red Kings. He is in a big lead as his opponent shows two 6’s.

Flop comes 659 and Ivo just puts his head on the table and repeat the words:
-One time, One time.

Turn shows J, and now he need another King to double his stack up, the river card shows a 4 and again no help for Ivo. Everybody says goodbye to the respectable player Ivo Donev. Not much to do when not even the RedKings can help him.

Now our hope is up to Thomas Erichsen, who is the only RedKings player left. He is doing pretty good, with 33.000 in his stack with an average about 40.000 and 135 players left.

Don’t forget tonights freeroll, at 19:15 CET you have the chance to play a $250 freeroll at RedKings.com. The password is: monaco

How sick is that?

Benjamin Schaub - Bad Beat.

Benjamin Schaub - Bad Beat.

Benjamin was on the Big Blind with 35 and got a free flop as only one guy limped (just called). The flop came out 5-J-5, Benjamin bets, limper (ugly Italian guy) calls. Turn shows a 4. Benjamin pushes all-in for 15.000, and the italian guy makes a instacall. Benjamin shows his 35, for three of a kind and the Italian shows J9 off suit. Now there is two cards in the deck that can make Benjamin loose this pot.

The Dealer knock on the table puts the card turned upside down, turns it, and shows a J! The Italian says he is sorry, and he should be with that kind of luck. Benjamin has to leave the tournament, and he is not happy with that, after his impressing play I must say I feel very sorry for him.

So, the answer for my question is VERY SICK!

A little bit more fun was it when Ivo decided to push all-in in the Small Blind, and the Big Blind folds, he tells me to come and see his cards, and he shows a 23 suited. Last time he made the same move he showed the whole table two aces :)

Now we hope for Thomas and Ivo! Go on! Do we have any of their fans reading?

Your chance to meet one of our stars!

Toni Ojala - Crush him!

Toni Ojala - Crush him!

Toni Ojala has been devastated from when his Queens got beaten by two Kings yesterday, luckily the kings weren’t red. Thomas Erichsen, 22.000

Stable stacks..

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Our three RedKings players haven’t done much the first hour of the tournament, a few steals but no big action. This means that they all have about what they started the day with.

Other interesting players that still is in the tournament, is the big Swedish star William Thorsson who started the day as second in chips, and also he is stable and building his stack slowly. Luca pagano is also still in, but he is a bit shortstacked and if he want to find another final table he’s got to speed it up a little.

We have 240 players left, the winner is leaving Dortmund with amazing €917.000! We are today playing 9 levels (9 hours) or until we are down to 32 players.

Who is your favorite? The young Benjamin, the star Ivo or the amazing qualifier Thomas? Or maybe you have some of your friends still in the field, give me a comment and I will check him out for next post!

I like them all three!
