RedKings gets 1 player into the Midnight Sun Terminator tournament that starts on Friday

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

RedKings player Ari Ikäläinen qualified through the RedKings qualifier to the Midnight Sun Terminator tournament that will start on Friday. Ari is a 37 year old family man from Hyvinkää, Finland. He got interested in Poker a few years back and has been playing since in the internet with a crazy glare in his eyes. :) He has a huge desire to develop in poker and has been browsing the finnish pokersites very actively in order to improve and has already gotten a few good ideas from there. He will go to the MNS terminator with a goal to win money and glory and of course represent RedKings to his best ability.

MNS Terminator tournament is an interesting mix of tournament poker and head hunting. From the Prize pool (€600) €400 will go to the tournament prize pool and €200 will go to each player to the table. When a player goes all in and has a chance to drop, those €200 will also go to the table. If the player loses, the player who dropped him will get the €200.

Mystery solved..

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

I couldn’t find Pasi Ahonen for a chip count in my last post, and I now have the explanation to that. Unfortunately he went out earlier today, he never really came back from the “bad beat” when he was all-in with KK vs AA.

He had about 5500 chips left when he got dealt 99 in small blind, when the button raised to 1200, it wasn’t a hard decision for him to go all-in. The big blind after him decided to call, and the button who opened the pot also called, but when the pot showed A-K-x Pasi didn’t have any chances against the opponents pair of aces.

I am sure we will see more of Pasi in the future, if you are Finnish, you have poker in the blood!

Now Ramzi is our lonely fighter, let’s hope he wins this war of cards and chips!

Anna Kournikova killed by bullets..

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Hopefully not literally, but in the Midnight Sun she was by our very own Ramzi Jelassi. Ramzi found, I quote him, “for the first time in his life”, AA when an opponent moved all in with AK. The aces held up and now he has boosted his stack up to 49.000.

The average chip stack is 40.000, and we still have two RedKings in the tournament, although we haven’t been able to get an update on Pasi Ahonen the latest hour, but it’s coming..

Kings vs Queens..

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Jyrki one of our qualifiers was for a while chip leader at his table when he got deal two queens, and got everything in the middle against KK. The board didn’t help him, and this crippled his stack so that e had to start trying to double up, but instead of doubleing he went out.

Ramzi is up on 31.000 after being down to 12.000 just about an hour ago, but then started winning some small pots and climbed up to 21.000. Then he got what he asked for, a good hand against the fish on his table, Ramzi flopped a straight against in, and Ramzi put out a trap and the fish fell right down in to it, he called him down with a low pair.

More to come…

RedKings Qualifiers..

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

We do not only have our Swedish superstar in the tournament, we also have two RedKings qualifiers in the Midnight Sun. Both are Finnish and both of them are still in the tournament after 5 hours!

Jyrki Ahola has been doing very well so far, he told us exclusively about a special pot he played against the Swedish pro Johan Storåkers. Jyrki had two Kings on the hand and raised pre-flop, Johan called. The flop was Kxx, and Jyrki got the top set. Jyrki continues to bet, and Johan continues to call. Same thing happends on turn and river and the pot has grown really big until showdown. Johan Storåkers shows AK for top pair, and Jyrki wins the pot. From this pot he has been playing stable, made a few nice bluffs that has worked out fine. He has doubled his stack and now have 40.000.

Pasi Ahonen was also involved in a key pot with KK, he even got all the chips in pre flop, and usually this is a very good thing, except in one case and that is just what happend; his opponent had the strongest of them all, AA. No help on the board and here he fell down to 8.000 in chips as he had his opponent covered in chips. He still have big hopes on getting through for tomorrow, lets hope so!

Ramzi Jelassi says that the game has been slow so far, nothing to tell us about. He is just waiting to get some cards against the big fish at the table. He now has 25.000.

Go Team RedKings!

Ramzi Jelassi - Now in Finland..

The prestigious Midnight Sun tournament in Helsinki Finland will start today with 3 RedKings Players. We will have our famous Swede Ramzi Jelassi running from the airport to make it to the tournament. His plane lands 1 hour before the start so lets hope his flight will not be delayed. Joining Mr. Jelassi, we will have two Team RedKings newbies who qualified to the Midnight Sun via an exclusive RedKings Online Final, which was played on the 4th of June. Pasi Ahonen and Jyrki Ahola, who will also join the Team RedKings in the WSOP side event later on the month.

The tournament starts at 16 CET in Helsinki and if you happen to be in the area, there might be a few tickets left. The buy-in is €2850 + €150 and the tournament is expected to get around 220 players. This is a 3 day event with the final played on Friday the 12th of June.
