Ramzi fights on..

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Ramzi called a player on the river with J7 when the board was K35KA, usually not a great call but this time it was a awesome call as his opponent only had 74 and Ramzi won on his J high. Ramzi has just been playing on his skills lately though, he has had the chance to take out two shortstacks, once with 88 vs K9, but a K showed on the board and then he was all-in against another shorstack with A6 against 69 and here he had a big lead before the board showed a 9. It still looks promising though, he’s now got about 40.000 in chips.

We only have 30 players left for the day and most of them will join the 25 that went through from day 1a.

Will Ramzi become the Swedish champion?

Molle off to the rail, Ramzi still on the roller coaster..

Molle - Not happy anymore..

Molle - Not happy anymore..

Molle was down a bit in chips and had to make a move, and so he did. He tried with a bluff, but after his opponent went into the tank and decided to call Molles bluff, his chance of becoming the Swedish Champion was down to 0.

Ramzi started the day with going up to 49.000 in chips and becoming the early chip leader after just three hours. Then he ran in to aces twice and was down to 19.000, now he is climbing up again.

The first hand he got a bit (a lot) lucky when he was all-in with A2 vs AQ, no help on the flop or on the turn, but then you always have the lovely river to help you. This time it did, it paired his deuce and he now had 23.000 in chips.

Then he was up against the girl who has been taking him down all day, Lina Olofsson. Ramzi got dealt JJ, he raised and Lina called. Flop came out 972, Ramzi bets 1500, Lina calls. Turn is a 6, Ramzi bets again, this time 3000 and Lina calls again. The river is a K and Ramzi shoots out the third bullet of 4500, and Lina calls. Lina shows 89 for a pair of 9s, and this makes Ramzis Jacks enough to win the pot. Up to 34.000.

As you all know after reading this blog, Ramzi is not a tight player but an aggressive player, we got another proofs on that in this hand. When the board was out 235KT and a player bets on the river, Ramzi calls him down with 58, his opponent shows AQ for A high and Ramzi boosts his stack up to 44.000, and again he is in the top region of players.

Ramzis killing spree has ended..

Meets Aces and Lina again..

Meets Aces and Lina again..

Ramzi just got back from the dinner break and got dealt K9 on the button, he raised to 900, on the Big Blind was Lina Olofsson who doubled up against him earlier who re-raised him, Ramzi thought it was a steal so he went all-in and Lina again had AA against Ramzi, no help for Ramzi on the flop and he is now down to 19.000 in chips.

Ramzi also gives us the comment:
-What, should I fold K9 on the button???
-Couldn’t someone tell me that she is only raising with AA?

Molle still has 21.000 and he is the chip leader in Team RedKings at the moment.

Building chips with fever..

Molle - Fever and 21.000

Molle - Fever and 21.000

Molle hasn’t been feeling that well the latest days, and he is not much better today he is struggling with his fever. Even though he’s got fever he is hard to beat, he has now grinded his stack up to 21.700.

Ramzi went down a bit when he called a short stacked Lina Olofsson with 55 and Lina showed AA, no help for Ramzi this time, he also lost a few smaller pots and now he has about 33.000, still a good position.

There is about 70 players left out of the 95 starting, and half of the field has gone to a dinner break while the other half continues to play..

Ramzi is on a killing spree..

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

And it seems like no one can stop him. Ramzi raised it up to 600 (blinds 150/300) with 57 spades, BB decided to re-raise to 1800, Ramzi calls because of his position. The flop is T24 with two spades, the Bib Blind bets out 2300, Ramzi re-raises to 6900 and his opponent goes all in for about 14.500. It is a easy call for Ramzi as he is committed. His opponent shows AQ without any draws. Ramzi has a lots of outs, the turn is a 6 which means Ramzi also has a open ended straight draw together with a flush draw and also a 5 or 7 will give him the pot. The river is a 3! And Ramzi has the nut straight and goes up to a chip leading position of 47.000, this looks very interesting.

Notable is that yesterdays chipleader had a very big stack of 174.800, but the 2nd position in chips had 74.000, not that far from Ramzis stack at the moment and they have only played for three hours, that is an accomplishment that not even Diego Maradona managed to do on the football field. We had 95 players starting today, which means that we ahve a total on around 190 players paying €1300+€120.

Molle still haven’t got in to that much action and is still on around 13-14.000.

Ramzi gets rewarded..

For playing a lot of hands early in the tournament. First hand the UTG just calls the BB, Ramzi calls with 45s in small blind. The flop comes out 368 rainbow, which gives Ramzi a interesting straight draw. Ramzi checks, and the UTG guy raises, Ramzi calls. The turn is a 2 which gives Ramzi the nuts (best possible hand), Ramzi bets out 1700, his opponent moves all-in and Ramzi has a easy decision to do with the best hand, call. His opponent shows 66 for a set, and if the board doesn’t pair Ramzi takes one player out and almost doubles up himself. The river is a Q and Ramzi doubles up to about 20.000!

Then just a few hands after that Ramzi has A7 in cut off and raises, the button calls and so does the big blind, the flop shows A74 for top 2 pair for Ramzi. Ramzi bets, button calls. Turn another 7 which gives Ramzi a full house. Ramzi bet 1800, opponent calls. The river is a K and Ramzi bets 5.000 and gets called again by AK and Ramzi takes the pot and is very high in the scoreboard with 29.000 in chips!

Molles table..

Molles table..

Hasn’t been the best during the latest two tournaments, in Paris he managed to sit down with 5 other world poker stars when the rest of the room was a ocean of fish. I guess he likes challenges or he is just unlucky with the table draws, today he is sitting down on another tough Swedish table together with: The old football player who now is a poker professional Hans Eskilsson, Andreas “Wiseguy” HöglundGusten Sjöberg, Alexander Roumeliotis, Carl-Johan Geijer and Paul Christoffersson. These are all well-known names in the Swedish poker-community and for you that didn’t know it, it is only Swedish Citizens who is allowed to play in the Swedish Championship. So then you wonder why they play it in Tallin, Estonia? That’s a long story….

Chip Counts:
Jonas Molander, 11.000
Ramzi Jelassi, 13.000

Ramzi Jelassi - On the edge..

Ramzi Jelassi - On the edge..

Ramzi likes to play a lot of pots in the beginning to build up a big stack, here is two key hands so far today:

Ramzi limp-called a raise with 107 of spades in a 3-way pot and the flop came out T86 with 86 in spades. Ramzi checkraised to 1100 and got called by the pre flop raiser, turn is an ace, both checks, river is a Q and it’s not in Ramzis color. Ramzi checks, opponent bets and Ramzi folds, the opponent admits he had KK so if Ramzis draws would hit he would had got a big pot.

Ramzi re-raised pre-flop with 94 spades and got one caller behind him, a girl, first raiser folded. The flop came out T67 rainbow. Ramzi checked, she checked behind, turn is a 6 of hearts which gives Ramzi both a gutshot straightdraw and a flush draw. Ramzi bet 1100, gets re-raised to 2200, after a while Ramzi announces “all-in”. She goes into the tank and after a while she fold the best hand, QQ. Ramzi feels relieved.

Molle has been calm so far, he will give us action later on…

Swedish Championship!

Swedish Championship!

Started yesterday with 93 players in day 1a, 25 of those went through to the second day that starts tomorrow. Elegant people comes late, and that is why we have our 3 Team RedKings players playing today in day 1b. We have our super pros who arrived here in Tallin after a week in Paris for Grand Prix de Paris. Now they will sit down to show that they really are the best in Sweden. As we at RedKings had our own qualifiers to this event, we also have Arvid Zetterberg who managed to win our online final and that means that he is joining Team RedKings during this week.

The buy-in is €1300+€120 and for that everybody gets 10.000 in chips.

Molle is still a bit sick from Paris with fever and a bit headace, but that is nothing that will stop him from owning his table. Ramzi or the “Mathematical Genius” is feeling hungry for a win, maybe he will be crowned as the new Swedish Champion?

I will update you today on how our RedKings champs are doing!
