The new “November 9″ has arised..

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen it is an honor for me to present to you the new November 9, the 9 players that managed to do the impossible, the 9 players that has showed their enormous skills throughout these 8 days they have been playing, the 9 players that will compete about the 1st prize of $8,546,435 and the title as the worlds best poker player.

Molle vs Ivey..

Molle vs Ivey..

In day 2b, Jonas “Molle” Molander got to sit down against a very well known man, Phil Ivey. Molle was to be honest the only one at the table that really played against him, and he did so very well for about 5 hours and many would agree with me if I say he outplayed him, but then again Phil Ivey was also the man who took him out. KK vs AK, if there would had been an A on that board, we could have had Molle on this final table, instead of Ivey who is one of the 9! Incredible.

I hope you all readers have enjoyed your time here in the blog during the Team RedKings reporting here in Vegas. I have a lot of memories from it, and I hope I have shared them well with you! Now, here is the 9 players that will compete about the title in November:
Darvin Moon 58,930,000
Eric Buchman 34,800,000
Steven Begleiter 29,885,000
Jeff Shulman 19,580,000
Joseph Cada 13,215,000
Kevin Schaffel 12,390,000
Phil Ivey 9,765,000
Antoine Saout 9,500,000
James Akenhead 6,800,000

Let’s end it with a small refrain from a popular song made by Frank Sinatra
“Fly me to the moon, Let me play among the stars, Let me see what spring is like” “In other words, please be true , In other words, in other words, I love … you”

Hope you all got that one! And don’t miss out on the RedKings Summer Job Player Blogs!

Let’s get this party started!

Monday, July 13th, 2009

A party of poker, as Mike Sexton would have said. We are closing up to a new “November 9″ and we still have our Team RedKings player Christian Heich in the action. He is a bit short stacked, so my guess would be that the action today will come very early on.

185 players remains in the tournament, and here is the 7 people that will compete against Heich today:
Danny Smith - 214,000 (Blue 36)
Hieu Luu - 2,181,000
Theo Tran - 1,205,000
Viet Nguyen - 363,000
Craig Boyd - 1,545,000
Owen Crowe - 640,000
Dag Palovic - 1,896,000
Tim Kahlmeyer - 1,315,000
Cristian Heich - 381,000

That’s all for now, but as I said the action is expected already in the first level today, so please do me a favour and stay up!

Heich lives to fight another day..

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Christian Heich - 381.000

Christian Heich - 381.000

Day 5 becomes another short day with only 3 levels played as they got down to 185 players in the end of level 20, and they decided to bag up the chips and return tomorrow.

Christian Heich started the day very good by winning a coin-flip with 44 vs A10, and boosted his stack up to over a million, but from there he never got the chance to get any higher. He said himself that his table was very tough and he couldn’t play the aggressive game he usually plays.

He continued losing chips in the end of day 5, and ended up with 381.000 and will go in as a short stack for day 5. We all will just hope for an early double up so he will be able to play his usual entertaining game.

He is now guaranteed $36.626, but he is not yet happy with that, and hopefully tomorrow will be a good day for Mr. Heich.

Good bye for now from Vegas, see you all later tonight at 21:00 CEST when day 6 arrives!

Action two hands in a row..

Monday, July 13th, 2009

It hasn’t been that many hands to report about today, mostly been pots that hasn’t even gone to a flop. The playing that is going on out there is high quality of play, and usually you don’t see that many flops then.

When this action started Heich had about 980.000.

Middle position player makes it 32k, Heich calls on the button, BB re-raises to 117k. Both middle position and Heich calls.
Flop is Qh3d9c
BB checks, player in middle position moves all-in, Heich thinks a little and then folds, so does the BB player.

Next hand a middle position player makes it 36k, Heich in the cutoff calls, so does the SB and BB.
Flop 4sJd6d. It’s checked around and the turn is 8s. SB player bets out 100k, BB player and player in MP folds, Christian thinks for quite a while and asks “How much have you got?”, and then makes the call. River is 3c and both players check, his opponent shows 77 for a pair of 7s, and Heich mucks.

Little bad run going on for Heich, he now got 720.000. The average chip stack has grown up to 877k and we have 222 players left in this Main Event!

It is not only Christian in the field, we also have other big names still in there such as Peter Eastgate, Joe Hachem, Phil Ivey, Bertrand “ElKy” Grospellier and Chris Björin.

Heich marches on..

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Christian Heich our lonely fighter in the WSOP 2009 Main Event is one of 250 other players going for the first price of $8.5 million.

Players has continued to drop like flies, and as it looks now we will stop the day when we are down to 175 players, which might just take about a level more.

Heich is not anymore over the million, but his stack is still over the average, the magic number is now 920.000.

Go Christian Heich!!

Heich breaks the limit..

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

And that is the limit of 1.000.000 in chips, he just went up on 1.000.050 after stealing a big pot.

The Amazon room has really started to get empty of players but full of spectators or so called “railers”. We only have 339 players left after only 100 minutes of poker, this means that the players is dropping out very rapidly at the moment.

Christian Heich on day 5..

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Christian Heich - 830.000

Christian Heich - 830.000

Just say it and taste it, it is day 5 of the WSOP Main Event 2009 and we still ahve a Team RedKings member in there. Christian Heich has a chip stack of 830.000 with 407 players left, this gives him a very good position for today’s play.

It looks like we are going to play 5 levels today, and we are starting off with blinds of 4000/8000 and an ante of 1000.

Not to forget people, we are already in the money and everybody leaving the tournament at this stage will get something for it, not only something but at least $27.000!

Here is Christians table:
Seat 1: Matt Shchwarmann - 97000
Seat 2: Christian Heich - 830000
Seat 3: Nick Niergarth - 304000
Seat 4: T.J. Eggers - 242000
Seat 5: Mike Minetti - 212000
Seat 6: Antoine Saout - 589000
Seat 7: Fergal Nealon - 299000
Seat 8: Steven Levy - 433000

Day ends with a disaster..

Christian Heich - Stacking Chips..

Christian Heich - Stacking Chips..

Ramzi had about 700.000 when he first lost a pot with 99 vs KK all-in. Ramzi had him well covered but it costed him about 300.000, because no 9 hit on the flop turn or river.
From this point Ramzi started losing chips, when his bluffs didn’t work anymore. He was down to 80.000 when he moved all-in with A3 and got called by K10, the K hit the flop and Ramzi was suddenly out from the tournament. It wasn’t a shock only for Ramzi but for everybody that was following this Main Event.

This is the risk you take when you play the kind of style that Ramzi does. Ramzi finishes as 424th and gets $27.962 with him home. Well played Ramzi.

This is long from the end for Team RedKings in the WSOP Main Event 2009, Christian Heich has played beautiful poker all day through and for that he has got 830.000 in chips.

407 players remain, and we continue tomorrow again at 21:00 CEST. See you all then!

Day 4 comes to an end?

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

So far we have just played 2 and a half level on day 4, and normally we play 5. The thing is that before the day it was said that the play will go on for either 5 levels or until we are down to 400 players. Right now with 1 hour left of level 17, we have 468 players still in the field.

Ramzi Jelassi has been playing his usual game but he says “I want to change table, it is not that easy to steal the blinds, and where am I then going to get chips from?”, this comment pretty much reflects on Ramzi Jelassi during this whole tournament..

Christian Heich is continuing his stack building adventure and is now up to 850.000, will we soon see a RedKings player with a stack of 6 zeros? It is great to be able to say that I don’t know who of the two that will be breaking the limit first, as Ramzi Jelassi has 785.000.

Here is a reminder for you folks who has forgot about the prize pool I posted earlier:
1st $8,546,435

7th $1,404,002
8th $1,300,228
9th $1,263,602
10th-12th $896,730
13th-15th $633,022
16th-18th $500,557
19th-27th $352,832

Will soon let you know when the day will end, until then keep updating for blog posts and twitters!

Bubble play finally ends..

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

The bubble took more time than expected but after about 2 hours it finally burst. This was supposed to be the end of the level, but after this long bubble it got decided that they will play for another 39 minutes before they all go to a 20 minute break.

The bubble boy of course got sad after busting in 649th position, but to wipe away his tears the WSOP commisioner Jeffrey Pollack gave him the buy-in for next years Main Event for free!

Ramzi Jelassi has gathered 857.000, and he told me that the bubble play was among the most boring time of his poker life ever.

Christian Heich is not far behind with 780.000.

The players will soon start level 17 (3000/6000) and we have 568 players left in the tournament with an average chip stack of 342.000.

Go Ramzi and Heich!
