EPT Scandinavia Open soon coming up, but where can we find our players?

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

The answer is all over the world!

Toni Ojala decided to take his winnings from EPT Deauville and spend them on a trip first to China (Or was it China Toni?) and then he just decided to pass by the lovely country Thailand. This is where we can find him now. Toni has told me that Thailand is his favorite country a lots of time, and every time I am stupid and ask:
- Why Toni, Why?
- The girls Jerry, The girls.

I am sure this is the biggest reason, but also to sit down in a chair and have the sun shining when you turn on the computer and log on to RedKings is another big reason.

Toni Will stay there as long as he can, he will probably fly directly to Copenhagen where we can find him selected as one out of four players, who is going to win the prestige title “Rookie of the year” in Finland. Toni is now on a second position, and if there weren’t for some circumstances he would have lead that voting.

What about the rest of the Team? Why haven’t we seen Ramzi Jelassi in Sweden since before the Aussie Millions. Where the he** has he been!?

Yeah, you guessed right he didn’t want to leave the sun, so there he is renting some luxury apartment and living the life as a real poker pro. We are proud in the RedKings management, but we will try to get him home to Sweden from Copenhagen, because we know that things can happen over there, ugly things….

And the other Pros? You will find them online at RedKings.com, playing and taking all the money from you. You will soon get the chance to meet them officially online, since there is a very exclusive promotion soon coming up.

We will have around 6 players playing in the beautiful RedKings dress in the beautiful city Copenhagen, there will be action! Look here soon for names and staring days!

If you will not look at this blog from the 17th to the 22nd of Februari when all the live reporting will be, I really don’t get why you have read this far, I think you will.

Hopefully I will meet some of you in Copenhagen? I hope I will!
Good Luck at the tables until then.
Best Regards,
Your blogger.

EPT Warsaw – near, but still not near enough

Friday, November 21st, 2008

It was Warsaw to give place for the next EPT event. I arrived in the city one day earlier to look around and get use to the Polish atmosphere. It is said that Krakkow is the number one city to visit for tourists, but despite of the fact that Warsaw is not a dream place for history lovers, I liked the huge impressive scyscrapers and the modern look of the city, it was built to be a well organised and comfortable place to stay. And it is also reflected on the people, all I met were kind and nice locals, not talking about the beauty of the girls which must be world famous.

I started the tourney on day 1B and I managed to receive a very hard first table. It was a mixture of live professionals - like Roland de Wolfe who sat on my right - and agressive online players. I also spotted the Italian man at my table who knocked me out last time at Budapest.

One guy already finished the tournament after the first hand, so I expected an agressive game which I wasn’t mistaken. It was common to see a raise, then a reraise and even sometimes an allin. I tried to build my stack wit small pots, but I lost all the biggest ones, so when the table was broken up I only had the 2/3 of my stack.

My new table seemed to be easier, but I couldn’t play my agressive game due to my stack size, so mostly I played my strong hands with mostly less luck, there was a point when I was down to 1/3 of the starting chip. It was the time after the dinner break and arriving back at the tables I was dealt an AK – AQ – AK series with which I went allin with a result of one folding all, one split and one double up.

So I was back at business, but still not standing too good and closed the day at the half of the avarage knowing that next day I need to double up to stay in the tournament. And everything went as I planned, I doubled my stack with a pair of tens and after later on I won a relative big pot with a pair of aces, so I arrived at the avarage which meant for me the start point of playing harder. However my moves weren’t welcomed by the other players at my tables who answered with big reraises. So I had to go back for the short stack game and keep waiting for good cards to bulid my stack.

On the second day it was down to 34 players when I was forced to finish the tournament. Once I doubled up with a pair of 8s against deuces, but was fighting all the time for the survive playing with hardly any chips.

I had 40.000 when the avarage was 60.000 and still it was 10 players until the money and until the finish of the day. So I knew that I need to risk my stack in some way. I sat before the dealer when I looked down to pocket nines, perfect hand for me I thought. I raised with it and in the big blind Arnaud Mattern, last year’s EPT Prague winner went allin with the same stack I had. I knew that he is a really good players and capable of doing it with a wide range of hands, so I called and he showed A10. The flop came K-Q-J which gave him a straight and for me meant the end of the game.

I would have been much happier if I could go on for the 3rd day, but in poker you need a small amount of luck too, which this time I missed, but I will not give up, at the next EPT in Prague I will do my best to finish at the very front.

EPT Budapest – playing on home soil

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

As a Team RedKings player I participated at the EPT in Budapest. I waited this event very much as I wanted to prove in the first ever Hungarian EPT event.

A meeting was arranged for our team before the tournament, so I arrived a few hours earlier to the casino to the get know the other Team RedKings players, Jesper and Tony and the representetives of RedKings who arranged everything for us, players to feel comfortable during the whole tournament.

This was the first time I met the guys and I can assure you that they are all nice guys :) So we were talking a lot and had an easy dinner before the tournament which didn’t decrease our hunger for collecting as many chips as possible.

My table seemed to be good for the first look except the fact, that a fellow Hungarian, Denes Kalo was my big blind who already finished twice in second position at the EPTs. All other players were unknown for me.
My table was really tight with a lot of limping and calling, but without many raises.

In the first few rounds I receieved twice a pair of aces and even had a set, but as normally I wasn’t paid so early in the tourney and I even lost with the set. So I first went down, but later on I managed to come back with stealings and with a full house I went over the avarage in the middle of the day.

Then as players were knocked out from my table, new faces arrived who were more dangerous than the others on their seats before. Mostly a French guy caused the most problems for me, he seemed to be playing a decent aggresive game, raising with a wide range of hands and won many small pots.

I decided to get over the control of the table, so I also started to be more agressive which this time didn’t work for me, once a pair of queens weakened me and after loosing another big pot I became shortstack. So I started to wait for my hand to double up, but my King Jack wasn’t enough against the opponent’s pair of fives. After playing 10 hours I had to finish the tournament just half an hour before the end of day 1. I hope I will do much better at the forecoming EPTs.

However I really enjoyed playing this tournament, the atmosphere was extremely good and I feel that I played a good game which didn’t work this time, but hopefully will work next time.

What I also found remarkable that only our team, Team RedKings did really have a team spirit. From starting the day together we came together in the brakes, discussed the hands and encouraged each other during the whole tournament. I am happy to be a member of such a fantastic team and would like to thank for RedKings all the help during the tournament.
