Presentation of Benjamin Schaub, qualifier for EPT Deauville.
Written by: adminThis is the presentation of Benjamin Schaub, who have the honor to play with Team RedKings in EPT Deauville. For you who wants to know more about Benjamin, we have made you an interview to read.
My name is Benjamin Schaub, I’m 23 years old and currently studying economics in Giessen (Germany). I started playing poker almost three years ago. At the beginning there was a big ego but also a big lack of
self-discipline. After a year without great success I started a more sophisticated approach to the game and things started out working. In 2008 I built a bankroll for the first time and climbed the ladder of online NoLimit Holdem cashgames up to NL $10/$20.
Why did you choose to play for the Team RedKings?
Benjamin: They made an offer I couldn’t refuse ![]()
What is your preparations for the Main Event?
Benjamin: Well actually there are no special preparations. It’s my first EPT appearance, so my goal is to have a great time and enjoy this tournament. I’ll be driving to Deauville on my own so my only hope is that winter takes a break during that time.
Are there some players at the EPT that you don’t want to play against?
Benjamin: Of course there are some players I’d love to play against. But honestly I could pass on this experience playing in Deauville. Someday it would be great to play against the big names but for example having Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier on my table wouldn’t make things easier, right?
Did you already have the opportunity to gain some live experience?
Benjamin: I’ve been to Vienna three times last year, where I played a ton of hours focussing on cash game only. Las Vegas was also a destination I’ve been last year. I played some smaller WSOP Events, unfortunately without having great success. But that will be changed this year!
Tell us your plans for the future.
Benjamin: After playing the EPT Deauville I’m going to play the EPT Dortmund as well. From March on I’ll play fulltime taking a break from university. In summer Las Vegas and WSOP is the place to be.
If things work out I’m goingt to stay there for two months then I’ll decide how to proceed.
We wish Benjamin all the best in the EPT Deauville, and hopes that he will be the next champion in a RedKings shirt!

Wow, finally a German player. After the recent successes of the Germans in EPT and Aussie Millions it’s the right way to support those young guys for those events.
Good luck Benjamin !!!! Hope to see you at the final table in France!!!
