This time it was Shootout Limit Hold’em $1500 event that Ivo had on his schedule, a shootout tournament is a tournament where the winner from each table goes through to the next round.

Ivo got very bad cards all day long, best hand he had was QQ, that looked like this: One raise pre-flop, Ivo re-raises and gets called, flop shows 3 diamonds and Ivo has Q of diamonds, Ivo bets and gets called, turn is K of diamond which gives Ivo the 2nd nuts, only an ace of diamond can beat him and of course his opponent also has A of diamonds and Ivo gets shortstacked.

Without really getting any hands at all he still manages to stay in there until there was 5 player left where he gets all-in with A7 on the 974 board, opponent with A9 and Ivo leaves the tournament.

I had a chat with Ivo about his WSOP 2009 so far, and his thoughts about it is that he has played very good poker made many second days with decent stacks just that he hasn’t had that little extra push that you need to have to get in to the money in the tournament. At least two events left for Ivo though, and he is really looking forward to the Main Event!
